Lake Havasu City's London Bridge
The world's largest antique, London Bridge, is located in Lake Havasu City. During World War II the Germans attempted to blitz London with air attacks. Although the Bridge never sustained heavy damage, it was strafed by machine gun fire. This is the only object or place in the United States that has World War II damage to it.
As the bridge was disassembled in London, each piece was numbered to aid in the reassembly for Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Those markings can still be seen today. The bridge was reconstructed and re-dedicated on October 10, 1971. The reconstruction of the London Bridge spans a man-made canal that leads from Lake Havasu to Thomson Bay.
The London Bridge has become Arizona's second-biggest tourist attraction, after the Grand Canyon. Although famous for the bridge, Lake Havasu City is also home to the International World Jet Ski Final Races, multiple professional fishing tournaments and custom boat regattas.
