Outdoor Recreation on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation
The Fort Apache Indian Reservation is home to the White Mountain Apache Tribe and contains over 1.6 million acres of pristine land. They encourage visitors to fish, camp and recreate. You do not need State of Arizona permits for Outdoor Recreation and Arizona Hunting and Fishing regulations do not apply to Reservation lands.
You do need to obtain Reservation permits before or immediately after entering the Reservation for all outdoor activities including fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, river rafting, sightseeing, picnicking, biking, and cross country skiing. Feel free to recreate on all areas of the Reservation that are not "Designated Closed Areas".
Reservation permits are available for purchase from the following three off Reservation sites: K-Mart, Show Low, Pinetop Sporting Goods, Pinetop adn Western Drug, Springerville.
